在介绍咖啡的播种前,有必要让大家了解一下咖啡果实的构造。咖啡果实的构造(如图所示)从外到内分别为:外皮、果肉、内果肉、银皮、胚乳、中央线。当我们摘下成熟的咖啡红色果实以后,最外层是一层红色的外皮。剥开外皮,我们可以看见的果肉。去掉果肉后,相对而立的两颗咖啡豆就展现在我们面前,豆子表面有一层膜,将膜去掉就成为咖啡生豆。
咖啡树的种子,是以带着内果皮的形式保存的,既意味着咯-费豆在去掉内果皮以后,就不能作为种子栽种了。
种植过程
Kahfee's growth period: From planting to growing and eventually producing coffee beans, the entire cultivation process takes approximately 3 years. The cultivation process of coffee usually involves: selection, soaking, germination, transplantation, and management.
Selection
Coffee bean seeds must be those without removed inner skin. They are stored in sheepskin paper for preservation. Because when coffee beans are stripped of their membranes during processing, it can harm the embryo of the coffee bean, making it impossible for it to sprout or serve as a seed.
Soaking
Farmers typically place seed beans in specially designed cloth bags and soak them in water for 2-3 days before placing them in a greenhouse for germination.
Germination
After being soaked for 40-60 days inside a bag with sheepskin paper, the coffee beans will break through their membrane and grow an embryo at this point they can be moved into soil nutrient bags.
Cultivation
Once the seedling has grown out of its potting mixture (after about 30 cm), it is transplanted to a nursery bed under shade netting that protects against wind and sun exposure similar to how vegetable farmers protect young vegetables from harsh conditions using greenhouses or cold frames.
Planting
When the saplings reach around 1 meter tall with robust foliage and have produced flowers that result in fruiting bodies containing multiple seeds within each fruiting body after which they start yielding economic returns by way of harvesting fruits known as cherries; then we proceed towards transplanting them into plantations where full-grown trees are already planted so that these newly planted saplings may grow alongside mature ones having better access sunlight resources while still receiving necessary protection from potential pests & diseases by older trees' canopy above them thus allowing healthy growth throughout life span until reaching maturity age around ten years old upon reaching such stage further regular pruning becomes essential task undertaken periodically every three years by local farmers who carefully cut off all weak branches except few strongest ones left intact on main trunk near top part close enough but not touching any other branch below just yet keeping distance between branches greater than one meter wide ensuring good air circulation inside tree canopy promoting photosynthesis efficiency thereby increasing yield per acreage area covered under plantation over time now let us dive deeper into what exactly does "regeneration" mean here refer back up text where I mentioned 'back cutting' technique employed once again!
