What is SCA International Coffee Certification?

The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) is a global organization dedicated to the specialty coffee industry. It was formed by the merger of two well-established organizations, Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) and the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE). The SCA has been at the forefront in promoting excellence in all aspects of coffee, including production, roasting, brewing and retailing.

How does one become an SCA Certified Barista?

To become an SCA certified barista, one must first meet certain prerequisites. These include having some experience working as a barista or assistant manager in a cafe or restaurant. One must also have passed other certifications such as Food Safety or Health & Hygiene certification.

Once these prerequisites are met, one can apply for the SCA International Barista Certificate program. This program consists of three levels: Foundation Skills Level 1; Intermediate Skills Level 2; and Advanced Skills Level 3.
