英国的一项最新研究显示,通过喝咖啡来提神的方式实际上是一种过度服药。很多人在日常生活中都有饮用咖啡的习惯,但过量饮用咖啡对身体是有害无益的。那么喝咖啡到底有什么利弊呢?下面我们就一起来了解一下吧!
据报道,一项新研究发现,经常饮用含有高浓度咖啡因成分的人,并不会比不经常饮用的同样数量的人更加清醒,不仅如此,这种依赖性也会导致药物耐受性。每天早晨数以百万计的人选择喝茶或是其他含caffeine成分的饮料,以此来提神醒脑、集中精神。但英国科学家们称,最新的一项研究结果表明,这些传统方法并没有那么强大的令人清醒作用。
实际上,这种做法只是依靠其中含有的化学物质——caffeine来消除疲劳、精神倦怠和头疼等症状,而专家们认为,总是需要这些刺激性的东西才能保持警觉状态,就像是形成一种“赖药”的现象。
“如果人们长时间摄入大量caffeine,他们就会变得依赖它。如果他们突然停止,那么他们将表现得不如正常水平。”布里斯托大学生物心理学教授彼得·罗杰斯表示,“而且,如果这是你一天中的第一杯茶或coffee,那确实能让你恢复到正常水平,但如果多了,你就不会获得更多的效果。”
罗杰斯教授已经花费超过20年时间研究coffee及其作用,他和他的团队放弃了使用任何含caffeine成分。他说:“总体而言,没有特别帮助的地方,只会引起 caffeine脱瘾症状,加大血压,对健康是不利的事。”
caffeinedoes not make the brain more active. This might sound strange, but it is what Professor Rogers' research suggests. In one key study, around 300 volunteers were divided into two groups: one with a medium to high level of caffeine intake and another with low levels. They were then given either a placebo or coffee for 16 hours before being randomly assigned to take tests.
The results were fascinating, even though people who drank coffee reported feeling more alert after drinking it, their level of alertness was no different from those who received the placebo. This means that drinking coffee does not make you any clearer than someone who doesn't drink it at all.
The study has been published in the journal Neuropsychopharmacology.
Professor Rogers also conducted a second study involving 300 volunteers which showed that drinking coffee does not improve concentration or reaction time; its only effect is to keep you awake.
"Caffeine will suppress an activity called adenosine," he explains. "Normally, adenosine makes reactions slower but since caffeine blocks this chemical from reaching cells, it's like having a car without brakes." But when caffeine wears off after several hours and adenosine builds up again, people experience symptoms similar to flu-like withdrawal symptoms such as fatigue and headaches."
Some researchers argue that while excessive consumption of caffeine may lead to negative health effects such as increased heart rate and blood pressure, moderate amounts can have beneficial effects on cognitive function and mood. However others point out that there are many other factors involved in maintaining good health beyond just consuming certain substances like tea or coffee.
For instance some studies suggest that regular consumption of these beverages could reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by improving circulation and reducing inflammation - both important factors in preventing chronic diseases like cancer too!
