It was there that skilled baristas perfected brewing techniques such as Turkish coffee making – finely grinding beans and steeping them in hot water before serving.
By the 16th century, trade routes had connected Arabia with Europe, introducing Europeans to this exotic drink for the first time at Venice's Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute around 1600 AD. Initially met with suspicion due to its association with witchcraft (as were many new foods), it took some time for Europeans to warm up (pun intended) towards this strange brew.
However, once they did – particularly among intellectuals like Voltaire and Montesquieu who saw potential benefits for their mental faculties – it wasn't long before cafes sprouted up all over major cities like Paris' Café Procope or London's Charing Cross Taverns offering 'coffeehouses'. These establishments served not only drinks but also provided spaces where people could engage in lively debates about politics, art & science; thus contributing significantly towards Enlightenment ideas spreading across Europe during 18th century "Age".
As global connections continued expanding through colonialism & trade networks - especially between European powers - so too did knowledge about different types of beans grown worldwide e.g., Brazil introduced Arabica varieties while Indonesia popularized Robusta which gave rise various flavors & aromas within traditional roasts available today such as French Roast or Italian Espresso style offerings we enjoy now days!
